The state of Qatar has signed a deal to buy F-15 fighter jets from the United States for $12 billion.


Qatar state minister of defense affairs  Khalid al-Attiyah  who is visiting Washington now nad US Secretary of defense Jim Mattis signed the  agreement for a $12-billion sale of US-manufactured F-15 fighters.
H.E. al-Attiyah said in statement to Qatar News Agency that this agreement is a confirmation of Qatar’s long term commitment to work with our friends and allies in the US to strengthen the military relations to enhance strategic cooperation in our war against violence and extremism and focusing on security and stability in our region and the world.” 
The minister added that this agreement will strengthen Qatar’s capacity to maintain its security and alleviate the burden on the US forces in the operations against extremist violence. The two countries have enhanced their military cooperation, as they have been fighting side by side  to combat terrorism for a future where everyone enjoys dignity and prosperity.
H.E. concluded that signing this agreement is considered another step to consolidate our strategic defense relations  with the US. Indicating that the state of Qatar is looking forward to continue the efforts of joint military cooperation with our partners here in the US
